Dobroslav Paraga is a Croatian far-right politician who was born on April 2, 1956, in Tomislavgrad, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia). He was the founder and leader of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), a far-right party that espoused extreme nationalist views and opposed Yugoslavia's communist regime.
Paraga became active in politics during the early 1980s and was a vocal advocate of Croatian nationalism and independence. He was arrested several times during this period for his political activities, and his views and actions often led to clashes with the Yugoslav government.
In 1991, Paraga played a significant role in the Croatian War of Independence as the leader of the HOS, a paramilitary group that fought alongside the Croatian Army against Serb forces. However, the HOS was disbanded in 1992 due to its extreme nationalist views and alleged involvement in war crimes.
Paraga's political career has been controversial, and he has been accused of promoting fascism and racism. He has also been convicted of several crimes, including incitement to racial hatred and illegal possession of firearms. Despite this, he has remained active in politics, and in 2018, he was elected to the Croatian Parliament as an independent candidate.
